First, and most important, a huge Thank You! to the people who made our first goal possible. We have raised enough to send two dogs, and a little left over towards the next two dogs.
Sadly, Pollux and Castor our first two candidates, after leaving their run of many years, began to demonstrate some behaviors that may have made the journey slightly difficult for them and for others. We chose on the side of caution, and selected two other candidates.
Gypsy and Scamp passed the new vetting process. They passed health checks and were microchipped. We only had a short time to work on some leash training, but they showed great progress. The have left their shelter of 3 years and flew Monday from BKK to LAX.
We don't know much about Scamp and Gypsy, other than they lived on the street together with their third sister, Buttercup. They are about four years old, and have been together in the same run since they were rescued in 2013.
In preparation for their journey, Scamp and Gypsy were bathed and their travel crates were prepared with water and food bowls, documentation, their first collar and a leash. They were transported by truck to Chiang Mai for an overnight stay before their flight to BKK.
The flight volunteer flew Monday with ten dogs from BKK to LAX, then on to LIFE Rescue where the dogs are settling in. A huge thank you our flight volunteer, Jett Gonzales!
Scamp and Gypsy arrived Tuesday morning, Thai time, and are setting in before the adoption process.
We decided to see this process through, from beginning to end, before starting all over with two more dogs. However, we are already $100 into the $600 we need for the next round.
